Everyone knows the big household names. Dreams, IKEA, Bensons for Beds. But across the UK bed market, specialists you might not have heard of take nearly 60% of all organic clicks.
That pattern holds category by category too, and the names winning aren’t always who you’d expect.
We pulled the full organic click share data behind the UK bed market to find out what’s really happening.

The market is bigger and more fragmented than the leaderboard suggests
945 unique domains are competing for visibility in UK bed searches – of all the clicks generated, 67% are expected to land on organic results rather than paid placements or other SERP features. That’s a large, genuinely organic opportunity, spread across nearly a thousand competing sites.
Ranking well isn’t the same as winning the click
Almost every results page for a commercial bed search now features a product grid. Images appear on 69% of pages. Related searches and “People Also Ask” boxes are close behind.
Before a shopper even reaches a listing, they’ve already scrolled past several other ways to click.
That matters because organic visibility and organic clicks aren’t the same number. Dreams holds 33.7% visibility, just ahead of IKEA at 33.5%, a near dead heat. But visibility has to survive a busier page than it used to, and only some of it converts into an actual click.
The named leaderboard is closer than the size of these brands suggests
Dreams leads overall click share at 9.09%, with IKEA close behind at 8.98%. Bed Kingdom holds third at 7.13%. From there, Happy Beds, Time4Sleep, Bensons for Beds, Habitat, Bed Factory Direct, Amazon and Argos round out the top ten, with Argos at just 2.21%.
The distance between the UK’s best-known bed retailer and the tenth-largest is less than most brands would guess.
Different names are winning categories
Kids & Bunk Beds: Bed Kingdom leads at 17.07%, ahead of IKEA at 14.31%. Noa & Nani, Funky Bunk Beds, Sleepland Beds and Childrens Bed Shop all place in the top ten here, brands that don’t appear anywhere near the top of the overall leaderboard.
Storage & Ottoman Beds: Time4Sleep leads at 11.61%, narrowly ahead of Dreams at 10.98% and Happy Beds at 9.79%. The top three sit within two percentage points of each other. No one has settled this category yet.
Divan Beds & Bases: Divan Centre leads at 10.9%, ahead of Dreams at 9.65% and Divan Base Direct at 9.45%. A specialist site is outperforming the UK’s biggest bed retailer, in one of its own core categories.
Materials & Styles: obc-uk.net leads at just 6.24%. No brand clears 7%. It’s the most open category in the market.
Scale isn’t buying the win
Split by domain type, specialists take 59.2% of all clicks in the market. Generalists, including IKEA, Habitat and Argos, take 25%, whilst marketplaces like Amazon take just 2.5%, despite their reach across almost every other retail category in the UK.
Being big elsewhere isn’t translating into being big here.
Where to focus
The categories without a dominant leader, storage, materials, and arguably divan, are the ones where a focused push can move performance fastest. In a market this size, a small gain in click share is worth a meaningful amount of revenue.

How we built this
We built a custom tool to model the commercial organic click market, using Google’s keyword infrastructure, live search data, and industry benchmarks.
Competitive position is measured as Click Share, not rank. It’s weighted by organic visibility, realistic click-through potential, and the SERP features, product grids, images, related searches, that absorb clicks before a shopper ever reaches a listing. That’s why a brand can rank well and still lose the click, and why Click Share tells a different story to a standard visibility report.
All figures represent a point-in-time snapshot, and we hold this data for all domains in the market, not just the names on this list.
